About the author

Maureen Sweeney Ackerman, a lifelong reader, writer, and runner, and recipient of multiple awards for excellence in teaching, has taught English, Creative Writing, and Public Speaking to high school students. She has been a private writing and speaking coach, a memoir and poetry workshop leader for adults, a featured speaker at national conferences, a freelance editor, and a ghostwriter. Until 2017, she lived on Long Island, where running along back roads and the beach ignited her imagination and gave rise to much of her writing. “I was always collecting images,” she says. “I was shaping sentences with my feet. I was crafting paragraphs out of air. I was in love with the world, and I spilled that love onto the page.” She and her husband currently live in Denver, Colorado. 

This Going, This Grace, her first poetry book, was published in 2019.
